Application specific standard products (ASSPs) manufacturer Diodes Inc. has introduced a constant-current light emitting diode (LED) driver offering a wide temperature range for a variety of LED applications.
The AL5809 features a temperature range of – 40 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius with an operating voltage between 2.5V to 60V in various fixed-output current versions, which Diodes said removes the need for external current setting resistors. As a result, the LED driver works for applications such as LED signage, LED strip lighting and low-current retrofit lamps, the company said.
Other features of the driver include over-temperature protection (OTP) and the ability to drive both low- and high-side LED chains. Diodes said the driver is a small footprint, low bill of materials (BOM) cost device that improves accuracy of LED applications and a higher performance than competitive alternatives or discrete designs.
