Sighthound, Inc. announced today the release of Sighthound Video 4.0, the latest version of its security software for homes and businesses. Sighthound Video is artificial intelligence (AI) software that allows a computer to monitor a home or business and look for people. The software minimizes false alerts caused by events that would otherwise fool conventional motion-based detection software, which is incapable of distinguishing between people and other objects.
The fourth generation of the software has been re-designed to significantly enhance performance. When using H264 IP cameras, the software uses, on average, 60% less CPU than version 3.0—despite running at a full 30- frames-per-second (fps) frame rate. This allows video to be recorded at a higher resolution and allows more cameras per computer.
Key improvements in version 4.0 include:
- Audio support for IP cameras that use the AAC codec
- New and improved human detection engine
- Video recorded at the stream's native frame rate, no longer limited to 10 fps
- Sort button added in Search View to select the ordering of clip results
Sighthound Video works on Windows or Mac, and has a one-time license fee of $60 for two cameras, or $250 for unlimited cameras. Both of these options include a year of major version upgrades and technical support.
