Ayla Networks has launched a video services IoT platform to extend the company’s connected product capabilities to camera and video-enabled devices in the smart home.

The move will allow consumer brands to include video products in Ayla’s IoT cloud platform that already connects more than 15 million devices and 60 global smart home brands.

The video platform provides full-stack connectivity services for camera products including:

  • Device connectivity SDK
  • Mobile application development
  • Cloud services platform
  • Integrated subscription management and payment processing

Additionally, consumer brands can also use Ayla’s existing ODM relationships and prebuilt mobile applications or build fully custom designs using their own proprietary hardware and mobile applications.

The platform is built on AWS Kinesis Video Streams (KVS) that supports both live RTC-based streaming and cloud recording with playback. Ayla’s software development kit (SDK) — which is a pre-built package of code, APIs and tools that allows users to add video functionality to an app without building it from scratch — manages the control over data in transit and at rest.

"Our video platform combines the security and data infrastructure of KVS with Ayla’s 15 years of experience building and evolving differentiated connected experiences for leading smart home brands," said John Grady, CEO of Ayla Networks. “Using Ayla video services, brands can confidently launch connected cameras that drive subscriptions and deepen customer relationships.”
