Eaton has introduced a series of automotive grade high current power inductors targeted at automotive applications that require a great deal of reliability at high or low temperatures.
The Coiltronics HCMA series of power inductors meet or exceed the Automotive Electronics Council’s (AEC) Q200 Grade 3 standard with a maximum total temperature operation range from minus 55 degrees to 125 degree Celsius, Eaton says. As a result, the Coiltronics series is targeted at automotive applications such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle control, body control, lighting, infotainment, cluster controls, heating and air conditioning, chassis and safety systems.
The AEC-Q200 tests the stress levels of electronics for temperature cycling duration and thermal shock. This reliability is required for DC-to-DC converters, voltage regulation modules, battery powered systems, multi-phase regulators and point-of-load modules used in vehicle electronics systems, Eaton says.
