TDK introduces new miniaturized automotive power inductors

TDK Corp. has developed new power inductors for automotive electronics intended for use in the power line of an automotive electronic control circuit.

Source: TDKThe BCL322515RT inductors achieve high inductance of 47 μH and a saturation current of 0.72. Using metallic magnetic material as a core material, the inductors were downsized by about 35% compared to those that use ferrite material with similar attributes, TDK said. The inductors feature a temperature range of -55° C to 155° C for support in extreme conditions.

The AEC-Q200 qualified inductors are designed for a range of electronic control units including those for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

TDK said vehicles are increasingly using an electronic control unit for information communication and self-driving features, leading to an increase in the number of inductors for power supply circuits inside these units.

TDK said mass production of the BCL322515RT will begin later this month.
