MobileBench, a consortium of major companies in the mobile industry that includes Hewlett Packard Co., Intel Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., announced that its first benchmark tool for assessing easy-to-use performance of Android-based smartphones and tablets, is now available on Google Play.
MobileBench is described as an alternative to non-professional benchmarking tools for Android smartphones and tablets. The benchmarking tool is said to provide a thorough, standardized analysis of the overall performance of a mobile device through processor, memory, storage, graphics and user interface stress tests. MobileBench also includes a system performance monitor that continuously reports on the device’s CPU core, memory and storage utilization.
The consortium expects to release in the future a companion benchmark, MobileBench-UX, containing system-level applications that test factors affecting the user experience.
"MobileBench is the first Android benchmarking tool developed by a consortium of leading mobile electronics companies and ratified by key smartphone and tablet OEM and ecosystem players, for the worldwide mobile device market," said Mian Quddus, MobileBench Consortium’s chairman, in a statement.
