Arm TrustZone Hardware Protects IOT Devices

17 October 2018

STMicroelectronics has introduced a new series of microcontrollers (MCU) featuring the Arm Cortex-M33 core.

The MCUs integrate Arm’s TrustZone hardware-based security for cyber protection for resource-constrained connected devices for the internet of things (IoT). The STM32L5 series also includes flexible software isolation, secure boot, key storage and long run-times powered by coin cells or energy harvesting.

The series consumes as little as 33 nA in shutdown mode and achieves a 402 ULPMark-CP in the Embedded Microcontroller Benchmarking Consortium ULPBench. The series contains integrated digital and analog peripherals and consumer industrial interfaces for applications such as industrial sensors or controls, home-automation devices, smart meters, fitness trackers, smart watches, medical pumps or meters and more.

The STM32L5 series is sampling now and is scheduled to being production in the second quarter of next year.
