Ride-hailing vendor Lyft Inc. is expanding its robotaxi portfolio with a range of collaborations with autonomous vehicle ecosystem providers Mobileye, Nexar and May Mobility.
Mobileye’s autonomous vehicle and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) will be integrated into Lyft’s network and will make its scaled rideshare platform available to all its vehicles.
Additionally, vehicles equipped with Mobileye Drive technology will give small and large fleet operators access to Lyft’s platform and network of riders to optimize their vehicles.
To add further autonomous vehicle technologies to its fleets, the deal with May Mobility will directly deploy robotaxis to the Lyft platform in Atlanta beginning in 2025. Those in the city will be able to match with a fleet of autonomous Toyota Sienna minivans equipped with May Mobility’s autonomous technology. This deployment will scale over time across multiple markets.
Finally, in the collaboration with Nexar, Lyft will explore what better and safer autonomous technology OEMs and autonomous vehicles companies need. Lyft will pair with Nexar’s millions of hours of video footage to jointly contribute to a more complete data set for autonomous research and development.
Lyft has previously teamed with Motional to test robotaxis in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. These new collaborations will expand its testing of these vehicles in Atlanta and likely in other areas in the future.
