RISC-V startup seeks to be a viable alternative in chip market

13 August 2024

RISC-V startup Akeana has official launched after three years after its foundation, raising more than $100 in capital and positioning itself as intellectual property (IP) alternative for all semiconductor markets — from microcontrollers to mobile, automotive and cloud computing.

Akeana has released three processor lines and system-on-chip IP with the formal launch of the company. These include:

  • The Akeana 100 series of configurable processors with 32 bit RISC-V cores.
  • The Akeana 1000 series of processors that include 64 bit RISC-V cores.
  • The Akeana 5000 series of processors for next-generation laptops, mobile devices, data centers and cloud infrastructure.
  • Processor system IP — a collection of IP blocks for the creation of SoCs.
  • AI Matrix computation engine — IP for AI acceleration.

Akeana is a member of the RISC-V board of directors and is participating in the RISE project to accelerate software for RISC-V.
