Ventana Micro Systems Inc. has introduced at the CES 2023 tradeshow, which is being held Jan. 5-8, what it claims is the highest performing RISC-V processor available.
Called Veyron 1, the RISC-V processor is the first of a planned family and will be offered in the form of chiplets in 5 nm and as CPU core IPs.
Ventana said that many markets like mobile devices, automotive and client compute are now open to RISC-V processors due to the technology’s support in the Android Open Source Project. This means the technology could soon challenge traditional processors for these markets as well as 5G Open RAN, artificial intelligence and data center design wins.
"Our chiplet solutions and cores are well positioned to reshape the next generation high performance consumer electronic applications," said Balaji Baktha, founder and CEO of Ventana. "CES is a great opportunity for us to present our innovative Veyron platform and engage with leading consumer electronics OEMS and ecosystem partners to exploit the compelling benefits of the RISC-V architecture."
