Video: New Yoga Pants Nudge Wearers into Correct Yoga Pose Using Vibrations

12 June 2017

Yoga is hard. It is often stereotyped as an easy workout activity, but yoga is truly a difficult activity. The poses are complicated, it can be hard to follow an instructor when you have no idea what you’re doing and you end up looking like a human pretzel. And if you do the positions even a little bit off, you can seriously injure yourself. That’s where the Nadi X Pant & Pulse pants come in handy.

The new pants from Wearable X, a New York-based wearable technology brand, use sensors and vibrations to signal to the wearer where they need to adjust their yoga poses. The pants connect via Bluetooth to an app that the user downloads on their smartphone. The app has yoga poses loaded onto its database, the sensors detect what post that you are attempting, and then they send vibrations to the ankles, knees, and hips if your form is off. The sensors are battery powered. These pants work for beginners and yoga experts.

“I was never really good at yoga and felt intimidated whenever I would explore a new pose,” says Billie Whitehouse, co-founder, and CEO of Wearable X. “Throughout creating this product, we worked with over 50 yogis across three different continents to understand the importance of alignment in time and space”.

The Nadi X pants are the first product commercially available from Wearable X. The vibrations were designed to mimic the feeling of a yoga instructor adjusting your pose. So whether you’re in a group class or practicing at home, these pants will guide you into the right pose.

The pants cost $299 and come in four different styles: Black, Black with mesh, Black/White with mesh, and Navy/Grey with mesh. They are available in sizes from extra-small to large, and they will start shipping in August 2017. To learn more about these smart leggings and purchase them, visit the Wearable X site here.
