Massive internet of things (IoT) platform company Netmore Group is collaborating with utility Aarhus Vand and smart meter vendor Kamstrup on the deployment of about 69,000 digital connected smart water meters across the Aarhus Municipality, Denmark.
Powered by Netmore’s long range wide area network (LoRaWAN) and the digital water metering technology from Kamstrup, the project aims to provide visibility into water consumption to understand and reduce water use in real time.
After an initial pilot of about 1,000 homes, the project will begin in Tranbjerg, Denmark. During the pilot, communication between the digital meters and Aarhus Vand technology was confirmed. The deployment will continue through 2030 across communities in the Danish municipality.
The collaboration will eliminate manual meter readings in favor of remote collection of consumption data and then Aarhus Vand will be able to detect high consumption patterns earlier to help identify water leaks, faulty heat exchangers, damaged water infrastructure and more that could lead to higher utility bills.
Netmore is deploying its LoRaWAN network that will allow for the data transmission between the water meters and the utility.
