Swiss-American transportation vendor Swisspod has set what it claims is a new world speed record for the hyperloop, reaching 146 km/h (91 mph) with its Aerys 1 full scale capsule.
The record run took place at its test track in Pueblo, Colorado.
Swisspod said it has previously had three other record-breaking runs after running a series of test missions for its proprietary propulsion technology and autonomous control system.
Future testing
The 146 km/h speed place the Aerys 1 in small company of rails that can go this fast — less than 3% of European routes and under 1% of U.S. services can go this speed.
However, it is just beginning as Swisspod is turning its focus to the Aerys 2, the second-generation capsule that will allow for even faster operating speeds, the company said.
"AERYS 1 served its purpose: To move the technology out of simulations and into reality,” said Denis Tudor, CEO and co-founder of Swisspod. “It allowed us to test, iterate, improve and prove that the core systems work under real operating conditions. The milestones we’ve reached are more than just numbers, they are proof that hyperloop technology is maturing.”
The Aerys 2 is expected to begin production later in 2026.
