Siemens to bring Alphawave IP to market

13 February 2025

Siemens Digital Industries Software has signed an OEM agreement with Alphawave Semi to bring its portfolio of high-speed interconnect silicon intellectual property (IP) to market.

Under the deal, Alphawave’s connectivity and memory protocols such as Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, HBM and die-to-die (UCIe) implementations will be included in Siemens’ IP sales channel

The solutions are silicon IP building blocks that designers can license and integrate into system-on-chip (SoC) designs including implementations of 3D-IC and chaplet-based technologies. These are used in markets like:

  • AI
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Data networking
  • Hyperscaling
  • Storage

Siemens said it will serve as the key partner for Alphawave’s PHY, controller and subsystem platform IP for technology nodes in concert or individually with Siemens’ range of EDA tools and services.

The silicon IP platforms enable faster data transmission and reliability with lower power for designs in 7 nm, 6 nm, 5 nm and beyond.
