The growing movement to electric technology is not just limited to vehicles.
While the main thrust of the electrification revolution is happening in the automotive field as companies look to meet consumer demand and government regulations, across the electronics spectrum appliances and other devices are embracing all-electric.
At CES 2024, this was in full display and here is a cross-section of what was introduced at the world’s largest tradeshow.

Electric camper
Goal Zero introduced an all-electric camper that uses portable battery packs and solar to generate all the electricity inside the camper. While just a prototype, it shows that an entire camper can be run off the portable power packs that are increasing in size and density.

Electric grill
Innovations in outdoor grills often reside in creating different levels of power or configurations. Fuel source is not generally something that changes in these appliances. However, at CES 2024 that was completely different as Current debuted what it claims is the first electric grill. Current rolled out two models: the first, a dual-zone electric grill with dual-zone cooking and heats up to 700° F, and second, an electric griddle that heats up to 600° F.

Electric mower
The idea of electric autonomous lawn mowers is not new, but Dreame’s new robotic lawnmower uses 3D laser sensor technology and path planning to learn the environment of a homeowner’s yard. This allows the robot mower to avoid obstacles such as trees, houses and even darkness. Dreame said the robot eliminates repeated mowing and missing areas because it has centimeter-level positioning. It is also 90% quicker, and automatically returns to its base when it senses rain.

Cordless electric graphene cooker
Another good idea for camping comes from Graphene Square, a Korean outdoor device startup. Its cordless transparent graphene cooker uses mid-infrared radiation from graphene that is one-atom thick. While currently only a prototype, the environmentally friendly cooker would replace 100-year-old coil heaters and offer 30% less power consumption. It also uses lithium-ion batteries without direct cords, which the company claims is a first for cooking appliances.

Electric smoker
GE Profile introduced what is claims is the first smart indoor smoker. The appliance provides hobbyists and professionals with a new way to smoke food that does not require a large time commitment, a backyard or any knowledge of cooking. The indoor smoker features an airflow system, gaskets and seals that keep smoke in the appliance and not in the kitchen or house. The smart smoker allows users to adjust the smoke intensity and temperature separately due to a separate heat source for burning pellets and the food. It also has set preset food settings for a variety of meats.
