Watch: 5 Smart Devices to Upgrade Your Summer BBQ

31 May 2018

Memorial Day weekend marks the start of barbecue party season. Barbecues are, arguably, one of the best parts of the warmer months. While June 21st, the first official day of summer, is still a few weeks away, the warmer weather has arrived here in the U.S. and the barbecues are in full swing. According to the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association, seven out of every ten Americans owns a grill and 83 percent of consumers own three or more grill-related accessories.

Just because barbecues are tradition doesn’t mean that they can’t be upgraded with smart devices. Here are five that can bring your hometown barbecue into 2018.

1) Looftlighter

The Looftlighter is a handheld wand that can start any kind of barbecue or grill. The Looftlighter pumps out super-heated air that can ignite charcoal, briquettes, wood or pretty much anything that you would use to start a barbecue. Looftlighter requires a wall plugin, but it comes with a 9-foot cord so you have plenty of space to work with. Looftlighter is an eco-friendly way to start a barbecue because it pumps out super hot air. Traditional ways to start a barbecue typically require chemicals or methods that are harmful to the environment. Looftlighter isn’t just for barbecues. It can also be used in the winter to start fires in your fireplace. It only takes 60 seconds to start a successful fire with a Looftlighter. The heat wand costs $79.99 and you can purchase Looftlighter on Amazon.

2) Grillbot

Barbecues are all fun and games, but one of the worst parts about barbecues is the cleanup. One of the most difficult items to clean after a party is the grill. Grills can be tough and painstaking to clean. That is where the Grillbot comes in. Grillbot is basically a Roomba for your grill. Grillbot has three brass wire brushes that clean the surface of your grill. It is important to clean your grill because an uncleaned grill can cause flare-ups and can also be harmful to your health.

The Grillbot has a CPU, three electric motors, and rechargeable batteries. Grillbot can clean for 10, 20 or 30 minutes. The brushes are dishwasher safe so even washing the brushes is easy. There is an LED panel at the top of the bot that displays the battery level so you know when you need to charge your Grillbot. The batteries last around three and a half hours. Grillbot is $89.95 and you can purchase it on Amazon.

There is nothing better than an ice-cold beverage during a hot summer barbecue. But sometimes you run out of cooled beverages and have to pull out the extra drinks that have been sitting in your kitchen at room temperature. Now your guests either have to drink a room temperature beverage or wait until the cooler or fridge has chilled the drinks enough. That is where the Rapid Chiller comes in. The Rapid Chiller chills your beverage by spraying your rotating beverage with cold ice water. Just load up the cooler with ice, insert your drink into the container and press start! The Rapid Chiller chills a beverage can from 77 degrees to 43 degrees in 1 minute. There is also an extra chill setting that will bring the can to 34 degrees if you like your drinks ice cold. Bottles are cooled in 3.5 minutes and wine bottles in 6 minutes. The Rapid Chiller is 90 times faster than a fridge and 40 times faster than a freezer. The Rapid Chiller can also use hot water to warm baby bottles quickly on the fly. The automatic touchpad lets you choose a setting for the chiller and the timer displays how long it will take to cool the drink. The Rapid Chiller comes in two colors, white and silver. There is even a version of the Rapid Chiller made specifically for tailgating that comes with a car adapter so you can use the rapid chiller while on the go or before a sports event. The Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage Chiller costs $89.99 and you can buy it on Amazon.
