CES 2024: Murata unveils Type 2FR connectivity module

Murata Electronics has introduced a Type 2FR connectivity module that contains an integrated NXP Semiconductor RW612 wireless microcontroller with an integrated tri-radio.

The semiconductor, which will be showcased at CES 2024 next week, is designed for internet of things (IoT) applications like smart home devices, smart appliances, enterprise and industrial automation, smart city and smart energy.

Other features of the Type 2FR include:

  • 260 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core
  • 1.2 MB of RAM
  • 16 MB of flash memory
  • NXP EdgeLock security technology

Additionally, the chip supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Low energy 5.3, 802.15.4, Ethernet and Matter over Wi-Fi, Matter over Thread and Matter over Ethernet. The Type 2FR module also has full regulatory certification and provides numerous extern antenna options.
