Electronic design automation (EDA) giants Synopsys and Siemens Digital Industries Software are further collaborating with Samsung Foundry for future digital and custom design flows.
Earlier this month, the companies collaborated on intellectual property ported to Samsung’s 8LPU, SF5, SF4 and SF3 processes including foundation IP, USB, PCI Express, 112G Ethernet, UCIe, LPDDR, DDR, MIPI and more.
This new deal with Synopsys is for certified digital and custom design flows for Samsung Foundry’s SF3 process. The investment includes a full stack of artificial intelligence driven EDA suite, allowing for accelerated advanced process designs, further differentiating system-on-chips and speeding up time to market.
The EDA tools that have been certified on Samsung Foundry’s advanced process include interoperable process design kits, Fusion QuickStart implementation kits and custom QuickStart kits. Additionally, the Synopsys AI-driven EDA suite boosts productivity and enables rapid migration of digital and analog designs.
New EDA certifications
The deal with Siemens supports a range of new certifications to port EDA technologies for Samsung’s latest process technologies. Samsung will use Siemens Calibre platform, Analog FastSPICE platform and Aprisa solution for its foundry services.
Additionally, Siemens and Samsung are collaborating on a range of initiatives such as:
- Developing circuit reliability solutions
- Using AI-powered tech for brute-force accurate high-sigma verification and characterization
- Using mPower software for 14 nm process technologies
- Deploying safety islands for automotive ICs
