Synopsys Inc. has introduced what it claims is the first suite of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for design, verification and testing, allowing engineers to use AI at every stage of chip design.

Called Synopsys.ai, the suite works from system architecture to design and manufacturing to accessing the solutions in the cloud. The company also announced that Renesas is using the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools for saving product development times with enhanced silicon performance and cost reduction.

Specifically, Synopsys.ai suite:

  • Boosts productivity and features digital design optimization to achieve power, performance and area (PPA) targets.
  • Features analog design automation for rapid migration across process nodes.
  • Includes verification coverage closure and regression analysis.
  • Offers automated test generation for fewer optimized test patterns.
  • Accelerates development of lithography models to achieve higher yield.

In addition to Renesas, Synopsys said its AI tools are now in use by nine out of the top 10 semiconductor companies where AI engines continually train on unique data sets, allowing the technology to become more adept at optimization over time.

"Increased complexity, engineering resource constraints and tighter delivery windows were challenges crying out for a full AI-driven EDA software stack from architectural exploration to design and manufacturing — and we've delivered it," said Shankar Krishnamoorthy, GM of Synopsys EDA Group. "With Synopsys.ai solutions, our customers' ability to search design solution spaces across multiple domains is in hyperdrive. They're finding optimal results far faster as the .ai learns run-to-run, and it's transforming their ability to meet and beat tough design and productivity targets."
