New Yorker Electronics to stock new enhanced capacitors

20 January 2019

New Yorker Electronics announced it will carry the new Vishay BC Components' 500 PGP-ST series of aluminum screw-terminal capacitors.

The new model has an increased maximum voltage rating of 500 V with the same 5,000 hour lifetime at 85° C as the other voltage ranges, which were recently upgraded from their previous 2,000 hour lifetime at 85° C.

The 500 V PGP-ST has been optimized for DC-linking in power conversion electronics rated at 20 kW and above, and are available with 8 mm terminals. Cases are cylindrical and aluminum insulated with a blue sleeve and pressure relief in the sealing disc. They are also available in seven case sizes ranging from 50 mm by 80 mm to 90 mm by 220 mm.

As polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, the 500 PGP-ST devices are well suited for power applications and pulsed power applications, which demand high energy storage in a small form factor. New Yorker also features the standard voltages in 400 V, 420 V and 450 V.

Features and benefits:

  • Allows designers to re-use three-phase, 380 V designs in 480 V systems
  • Allows designers to upgrade larger solar inverter systems for 1,000 V maximum input operation

Applications:

  • DC-link in large motor drives
  • UPS systems
  • Solar inverters

New Yorker Electronics is a franchise distributor for Vishay BC Components and carries the full line of Vishay Super 12 Featured Products as well as its full line of discrete semiconductors (diodes, MOSFETs and infrared optoelectronics) and passive electronic components (resistors, inductors and capacitors).
