Video: Creepy $4,000 Japanese Robot Claps at Everything

09 July 2018

Don’t be fooled. This is not a ginormous Pez dispenser with hands.

Instead, it is a crowdfunding project from Bye Bye World Inc., a Japanese robotics company, that developed a clapping robot for those wanting a bit more feedback in life.

Have a birthday? It claps. Have a special promotion? It claps. Win a major award? It claps. Get that long sought-after promotion? It claps. You probably get the point.

The company said the Big Clapper is designed to draw people’s attention with natural-sounding clapping and call outs in a pleasant voice.

Big Clapper was originally launched in Japan in August of last year but was limited to 100 units and then made its U.S. debut at CES 2018 in January. Now, the company is selling it via crowdfunding for commercial storefronts, office complexes or personal use.

And for only $4,000, you can have your own personal clapping motivational robot for those times when you need a little pick-me-up or for those times when you are feeling underappreciated.

The technology inside includes a motion sensor, speaker and giant LED eyes that will stare into your soul and terrify your dreams. Or maybe give you an emotional boost.
