Charmed Labs has released the next generation of its Pixy smart vision sensor.
The Pixy2 learns to detect objects that makers and developers teach simple robots to learn. New algorithms in the device detect and track lines for use with line-following robots. These algorithms can detect intersections and road signs allowing robots the ability to turn direction, slow down and more.

Charmed Labs said the Pixy2 is half the size of the first generation device and can process images faster at 60 fps with an integrated light source that can turn on when the lighting needs a boost.
The original Pixy was launched via Kickstarter in 2013 through a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute.
The Pixy2 is available through Amazon and other distributors now.
