Source: Philips LightingPhilips Lighting has expanded its collaboration with Amazon for the smart home where consumers that purchase an Echo Plus will receive a Philips Hue white connected light bulb that can be controlled via Alexa voice activation.

The Hue lightbulb can be switched on and off, dimmed and brightened using voice commands with a built-in smart home hub that also connects to ZigBee, WiFi and Bluetooth enabled devices. Echo Plus can be turned on and connected via the Amazon Alexa app and the Hue lightbulb can be automatically detected by Alexa enabling voice-controlled lighting across a home.

Adding Philips’ Hue bridge with Alexa unlocks further control, including smart switches, sensors and more than 700 third-party apps. The bridge produces ambiance for any time of day such as waking up in the morning or winding down in the evening with the right light.

The Echo Plus with Philips Hue is available for pre-order starting today and will start shipping next month in the U.S., U.K. and Germany.
