Timex has partnered with French MEMS maker SilMach to use its MEMS nanotechnology in future watch creations. The two companies have also formed a joint venture for the development of new technologies for watches.

Timex says it plans to introduce the first watch powered by MEMS technology in its 2019 collection.

“Together with SilMach we are disrupting the industry and setting the stage for nanotechnology,” says Tobias Reiss-Schmidt, CEO of Timex. “With this development, we are taking revolutionary steps to dramatically enhance design and function in watchmaking in ways that were previously not thought possible.”
