Cloud service providers need high capacity, secured and low latency connectivity between their geographically distributed data centers. With rapid growth of packet services, many of the client service rates are still at 10 billions of bits per second and below, which necessitate optical transport network (OTN) switching in order to mass deploy 100G optical connectivity in an economical way.

Using Microsemi’s DIGI OTN processors, ECI’s Apollo family of packet optical transport platforms addresses these challenges, the company says.

Using Microsemi’s DIGI OTN processors, EIC’s Apollo series it able to deliver dense 100G and 400G capacity client and line-side cards for packet-optical transport platforms, multi-terabit OTN and pack/multiprotocol label switching, cost-optimized, fabric-less switching platforms for the metro, dense 100G transponders and muxponders and wavelength and sub-wavelength level encryption solutions.
