RF and core component chipmaker Qorvo have signed an agreement to acquire GreenPeak Technologies in order to expand its portfolio of integrated RF solutions and system-on-chips (SoCs) targeted at the Internet of Things (IoT).
Because GreenPeak also plays in the RF market, it should complement Qorvo’s own portfolio as well as its own short-range wireless personal area network (WPAN), SoCs, Zigbee and Bluetooth solutions.
Qorvo will also gain GreenPeak’s range of proprietary antenna diversity and multiple receiver architecture technologies. GreenPeak also brings its Wi-Fi interference rejection technology to the company that contains no latency in production-ready reference designs for both the smart home and IoT applications. GreenPeak celebrated its 100 millionth ZigBee chip to the smart home market in 2015.
