Chip equipment vendors in North America reported orders of $1.31 billion in February (on a three-month average basis) and a book-to-bill ratio of 1.02, showing continued growth in the equipment market for the first part of 2015, according to trade association SEMI.
Global bookings in February were 1.3 percent higher than the final January level of $1.28 billion and 1 percent higher than the bookings record in the same period last year of $1.3 billion, SEMI (San Jose, Calif.) said.
SEMI's preliminary numbers for February show a slight growth in bookings and a slight decline in billings.
A book-to-bill of 1.02 means that for every $100 of product that was billed for the month, $102 worth of orders were received by semiconductor equipment vendors.
Billings in February were down slightly from the final January level and 1 percent lower than the billings level recorded in same period of 2014.
Denny McGuirk
Denny McGuirk, president and CEO of SEMI, said in a statement that year-to-date bookings and billings for North America were higher than last year for the same time period. "The year is off to a good start," with growth in bookings coming from the back-end sector, McGuirk said.
