Micron Technology Inc. and Seagate Technology plc have entered into an agreement in order to enable future NAND flash-based storage products.
The deal will focus on next generation solid state drives (SSDs) and a strategic NAND supply in order to deliver storage offerings that will help customers innovate faster, the companies said. The combination of products will also be used for future enterprise storage solutions that feature Micron’s NAND flash memory.
The agreement will allow Seagate to secure a strategic supply of NAND flash memory, said Phil Brace, executive VP of electronic solutions at Seagate in a statement. The deal will also enable “collaboration on future products and technologies,” he said.
Darren Thomas, VP of storage at Micron, said in the same statement the relationship will allow Micron to access the enterprise drive technology and platforms while “expanding our portfolio and accelerating our push into the enterprise market segment.”
