Electronic design automation (EDA) giant Synopsys Inc. has received approval from all necessary authorities to acquire Ansys Inc.

The $35 billion deal is expected to be closed later this week.

In January of 2024, Synopsys entered into an agreement to acquire Ansys to further its integrated silicon-to-systems approach and expand its R&D teams. This comes as a trend to integrate AI, silicon and software defined systems, requiring more compute performance and will likely grow exponentially in the future.

Synopsys said the combination of its silicon design and intellectual property (IP) solutions with Ansys’ simulation and analysis portfolio will allow users to rapidly innovate AI-powered products.
