PIC Wire & Cable launches single pair Ethernet cable for aerospace industry

18 February 2025

Aerospace connectivity solutions developer PIC Wire & Cable has launched its latest innovation: a single pair Ethernet (SPE) cable engineered to meet the stringent demands of modern avionic environments. Pioneering advancements in data transmission, this groundbreaking technology delivers a compact, lightweight and high-performance connectivity solution.

Developed as an evolution of traditional Ethernet solutions, E1G4222 1000Base-T1, Type B Standards cable maintains comparable specifications to its predecessors, such as four-pair Ethernet, while prioritizing size, weight and efficiency. Featuring shielded 22 American wire gauge (AWG) twisted pairs for superior signal integrity, SPE runs up to 40 meters with four in-line connectors and complies with IEEE 802.3-2022 (Type B) standards. Its lightweight single-pair design withstands vibration, flexing and its dual layer shielding offers a robust protection across a wide range of frequencies while significantly reducing space and weight requirements.

“SPE represents a transformative step in aerospace connectivity, combining efficiency and performance in a lightweight package,” Todd Wilson, product manager, explained. “Our solution addresses the industry’s increasing demand for innovative, space-saving technologies, while maintaining a high caliber of connectivity.”

PIC Wire & Cable’s SPE solution is now available for integration into aerospace systems.
