While regular Electronics360 readers will certainly recognize Tektronix as a developer of test and measurement solutions, a company offering that is perhaps lesser known is a comprehensive suite of testing services in its Wayne, New Jersey, and Boston, Massachusetts-area labs. Designed to support the quality control and regulatory compliance needs of industrial and electronic equipment manufacturers, that side of the business is focused on ensuring products that can perform reliably in their intended environments and applications.
Additional capabilities and increased capacity have been added to the testing service labs at Tektronix. Source: Tektronix Inc.Earlier this month, Tektronix announced an expansion of its real-time aging, accelerated aging, temperature testing and humidity testing abilities, adding additional capabilities and increased capacity for customers. According to the company, the service expansion comes at a pivotal moment: Demand has increased from several business sectors, including medical device manufacturers, and new FDA and EU MDR regulations have created requirement changes.
Tektronix said the real-time and accelerated aging capabilities will be available for use at both facilities, including chambers and rooms varying in temperature from -40° C to 85° C with humidity from 5% to 95%, depending on the temperature set point. Four 10 ft-by-10 ft walk-in chambers were added to the New Jersey lab, along with temperature and humidity controls and 2,000 cubic ft of real-time aging space capable of 23±2° C and 50±5% relative humidity. An additional real-time aging room was created at the Boston-area lab in Billerica, Massachusetts, and Tektronix is currently working on adding more chamber space there.
“At Tektronix, we are always thinking about how to best serve our customers,” said Matt Wood, the company’s director of testing services labs. “We can now provide them with a comprehensive product testing services solution, adding nearly 10,000 cubic feet of capacity for accelerated and real-time aging in our Wayne and Billerica locations.”
The company says that its new aging rooms and state-of-the-art walk-in chambers, featuring high-powered temperature and humidity controls, are already running. Tektronix labs can now collect real-time data to demonstrate that performance and reliability conditions are being met and maintained within application tolerances. The company notes that it offers competitive pricing unique to each product performance and reliability testing project.
