Signify is entering a new smart home category with Philips Hue Secure that integrates smart lighting with smart cameras and sensors designed for home protection.
The smart home system monitors a home in real-time and offers instant motion alerts, lighting and sound alarms to deter intruders. Inside the Philips Hue app, the security features provide a clear 1080p HD video feed with night vision and will send alerts when motion is triggered.
In addition to sound alarms and lights, users can activate two-way talk to a delivery person to leave a package or communicate if needed. The cameras include end-to-end encryption by default, so any video clips, snapshots and live views remain private. The cameras can recognize in real-time whether a notification is triggered by a person, a pet or a package.
The smart home system works both indoors and outdoors with the cameras mounted either with a ground spike or can be connected to existing low-voltage outdoor systems. There are specific products designed for outdoor use such as the Philips Hue secure floodlight camera that illuminates large areas in any color when an alarm is triggered. The Philips Hue contact sensor sends real-time notification when the contact sensor is opened or closed.
Signify said it will have starter kits and bundles to get users started. The Philips Hue Bridge contains a suite of products such as contact sensors, floodlight camera, light and sound alarms, automations and more.
