5G-powered autonomous delivery robots are coming to Peachtree Corners, Georgia, as part of the Curiosity Lab ecosystem smart city.
The autonomous robot carriers are built and operated by Clevon running on T-Mobile’s 5G network connectivity. The robots will be able to collect orders at warehouses, retail stores, dark stores and micro fulfillment centers and then deliver those goods to people and businesses around Peachtree Corners.
Clevon’s autonomous delivery robots are customizable to meet numerous business needs — anything from multiple slots for delivery of food to heavy cargo hauling. According to Clevon, the robots can reduce failed deliveries, carbon emissions, cost of delivery per customer and stolen packages. Additionally, the robots function in all weather conditions and offer on-demand service.
Earlier this year, Clevon launched autonomous delivery robots to Northlake, Texas, and the Peachtree Corners is the second major operation in the U.S.
“A future-forward environment like this — complete with city-owned smart infrastructure, T-Mobile’s best-in-class network and opportunities to interact with connected vehicles and people and businesses — is invaluable to our continued efforts to optimize autonomous robot carrier operation, including how they will navigate through real-world situations,” said Sander Sebastian Agur, CEO of Clevon.
The robots are integrated with multiple perception technologies and internet of things solutions powered by T-Mobile. As part of the smart city ecosystem, the autonomous robots will be live testing 5G adoption for last-mile services.
