HyperloopTT and Hitachi Rail are collaborating to accelerate the commercialization of hyperloop technology using proven high-speed rail cloud-based European Rail Traffic Management Systems (ERTMS).
The companies are co-developing a digital signaling and traffic management system that will be more reliable, sustainable and long-lasting for capsules that will travel as fast as planes. The commercial system is a proof-of-concept for cloud-based ERTMS that will be capable at running at speeds of up to 1,200 km/h.
The collaboration has created a digital simulator that allows for integrated testing of the traffic management, the signaling and some safety requirements for hyperloop systems. The companies will now develop an interface with HyperloopTT’s simulators for functional integration.
By using cloud-based software, the solution will be more reliable, flexible and cut maintenance costs. The simulator will also help HyperloopTT be more efficient by automating repetitive tasks and detecting and managing potential disruptions or errors.
“Hitachi Rail is committed to pioneering new digital mobility technologies,” said Leonardo Impagliazzo, chief director of innovation at Hitachi Rail. “Our digital signaling technology is used in the USA and Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and Asia to help safely move millions of passengers every day. This partnership allows us to evolve our best-in-class signaling and automation systems and to customize it for HyperloopTT’s super high-speed transport. We are excited about this achievement and are looking ahead to the next stage of the program.”
