Element14, a division of Avnet, announced the winners of its annual community awards, a celebration of the top innovators, designers and engineers for 2021.
Among the awards, five members were seen as the top contributors of the year along with 10 rising contributors.
These include: Jan Cumps, Don Bertke, Doug Wong, Shabaz Yousef and Frank Milburn. The rising contributors included: Gary Yohe, Scott Stobbe, Andrew Johnson, Sean D. Conway, Michael Zurek, Enrique Albertos Ciervide, Steve K. Kruglewlcz, Navadeep Ganesh U, Rushiraj Jawale and raspberrypitechguy.
Enrique Albertos Ciervide won the Design Challenger of the Year award for an internet of things (IoT) device that monitors gas density and controls windows in a given area to help fight COVID-19.
The Projects of the Year were the Viewing Noise with a Measurement Amplifier and Instrument Control Board, created by Shabaz Yousef and Andrew Johnson, respectively.
The Video Project of the Year was the DIY Star Trek Tricorder, part of the build inside the box competition from James Lewis. The video shows this device in action.
Rohde & Schwarz won the Favorite RoadTested Products award for its NGU401 Source Measure Unit. Other products to win in this category include Digilent 1x1 USB Software-Defined Radio Platform and the Raspberry Pi Pico.
Decider, founder and influencer of the year went to Frank Milburn, Jan Cumps and Gary Yohe, respectively for contributions in judging, sharing ideas for new themes and contributing to projects.
Finally, the Webinar of 2021 award went to Summer of FPGAs, a webinar dedicated to getting started with the programmable logic devices.
