LG Innotek has released what it claims is the smallest Bluetooth module for internet of things (IoT) applications such as healthcare wearables, smart lighting, outlets, switches, wireless earphones and hearing aids.
The low power consumption of the module is designed for connected devices that require a limited power supply such as small wearable devices and can link to smartphones or other electronic handheld devices to control these wearables or smart home applications.

LG Innotek said the module enables device control and real-time data even if there is an obstacle between the user’s smartphone and the IoT device. The communication performance of the module is increased by 30% compared to existing solutions, the company said.
The integrated antenna technology enables this communication. Whereas the antenna was previously installed separately outside the module, in this design the antenna is mounted inside the module. The antenna was designed to cover the entire module, maximizing the antenna area and improving communication performance, LG said.
