5G new radio module begins mass deployment

Quectel Wireless Solutions’ 5G new radio (NR) module has achieved commercial readiness and is starting mass deployment.

The RG500Q-EA module features the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem, which will work with industrial and consumer internet of things (IoT) applications such as business routers, home gateways, customer premises equipment (CPE), Mi-Fi, industrial IoT, industrial laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), video surveillance, digital signage, 4k/8K live streaming and other bandwidth use cases.

The module supports major sub-6 GHz frequency bands as well as worldwide long-term evolution advanced (LTE-A) and wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) network coverage. The module also features DL 4x4 MIMO for 5G sub-6 GHz and LTE Cat 16, PCIe 3.0, USB 3.1 and reduced gigabit media independent interfaces (RGMIIs) and multi-constellation global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers.
