Source: KSBPump and valve manufacturer KSB will debut its new Amarex KRT series of submersible motor pumps for transporting untreated wastewater in municipal and industrial wastewater management applications at this year’s IFAT, the trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, which is held in Munich, Germany, May 4 through May 8.
The new pump series features jacket-cooled drives and drive ratings ranging from 10 kW to 30 kW. The series is appropriate for vertical or horizontal dry installation. Additionally, the motors remain fully operational when not submerged, so they can also be used in pump sumps when water levels have fallen. Outfitted with IP68 enclosures, the pumps can continue operation even when flooded. Likewise, all pump sets meet explosion protection requirements according to ATEX, FM and CSA standards.
The motor cools itself through closed circuit, thereby avoiding contact between the circulating water-glycol mix and the fluid handled. This also avoids the risk of introducing contaminants in the fluid handled, which could impair motor cooling. Meanwhile, a special impeller integrated into the cartridge seal circulates the cooling liquid.
The series of pumps can carry fluids with temperatures up to 40° C and can operate in environments with temperatures up to 55° C.
