Aceinna has introduced a new microelectromechanical system (MEMS)-based 5-DOF inertial measure unit (IMU) for self-driving vehicles that helps the cars stay on track during turns and maneuvers.
The MEMS chip is designed for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous systems as well as electronic stability control and lane-keep assist functions.
The OpenIMU3308 sensor consists of three-axis accelerometer and three-axis gyros and is powered by an ARM M4 CPU with a floating point unit. The sensor embeds a triple-redundant sensor array to utilize only valid sensor data so that any defective sensor output or errant dataset can be ignored or de-rated in importance, the company said.
