Currently in production by electronic component distributor Digi-Key Electronics and open-source hardware company Adafruit Industries, a six-part video series titled “All the Internet of Things” is focused on myriad aspects of connecting devices to the internet of things (IoT).
So far, episodes have looked at:
- Transports, which are the physical and wireless mechanisms used to transfer data between things.
- Protocols and standards that enable devices to communicate with one another.
- Services and applications to implement IoT technology.
There are also resource guides for the first two episodes, and a supplementary protocols demo video.
The most recently released episode, the fourth in the series, delves into Adafruit IO — a homegrown service geared to both makers and professional engineers. Speaking of its eponymous service, Adafruit said, “for the vast number of people starting out with IoT, (it) will do everything they need. We’ve built complete libraries with lots of examples and plenty of ready-to-go code. Connected devices can be monitored and controlled using configurable dashboards with dozens of widgets that allow for easy two-way interaction with your devices — complete with buttons, gauges, maps, sliders.”
Each of the videos is hosted by Adafruit founder Limor Fried, also known as Ladyada. The videos and resource guides thus far produced for the series are hosted on Digi-Key’s site.
