Resideo Technologies Inc. has spun off from Honeywell International Inc. and will be a stand-alone, publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.

As part of the spinoff, Resideo plans to introduce new products and software in the coming months to advance the smart home market. This will include the Honeywell Home next-generation professional residential security platform and new enhancements to the Total Connect Remote Services application.

The D6 Pro Wi-Fi ductless controller, for smart control of ductless HVAC, will be available for retail early next year and is already available for professional installation. The company also plans to launch a universal heat pump defrost control for HVAC contractors, which offers universal compatibility across a range of OEM brands.

"If you've ever tried to piece together a smart home yourself, you know how complicated it can be,” said Mike Nefkens, president and CEO of Resideo. “It can mean dozens of gadgets and apps, rewiring, and troubleshooting. Our mission is to offer a different choice in the industry and make it easier to upgrade to a smart home.”

Resideo plans to launch an expanded contractor loyalty program for the HVAC industry this year and will also expand its program that allows HVAC technicians to test for airborne pollutants in the home and make informed recommendations, generating revenue opportunities while simultaneously benefiting homeowners.
