Smart home distributor Presciense has introduced a new in-home display (IHD) that is a fully smart home gateway with Amazon Alexa built-in that connects directly to smart meters, distributed energy resources and intelligent appliances.
The IHD is powered by a quad-core processor that is capable of edge-based disaggregation to identify individual appliance usage, learn daily routines and locally control customer’s smart home to deliver greater efficiency while ensuring privacy.
Energy insights on actual energy usage taken directly from a smart meter are displayed in real-time on the touchscreen display as well as mobile apps. Users can also ask Amazon Alexa to check and manage energy usage as well as play music, listen to news, control smart home devices and more.
Presciense said Polaris can help homeowners lower the cost of energy consumption by heating homes, charging cars, washing clothes or running dishwashers during periods of low demand or be paid to help balance the grid at times of peak demand.
