Two new power modules — the Himalaya micro-size system-level ICs (uSLICs) — that accept input voltage levels from 4 V to 42 V, were released this week by Maxim Integrated. With a footprint that is 2.25 times smaller than standard packages, the chips are made by integrating a Himalaya buck converter with its built-in FETs, compensation and an inductor. In addition, the chips are compliant with the CISPR 22 electromagnetic interference (EMI) standard.
