Dialog expands automotive buck converters

01 September 2020

Dialog Semiconductor plc has expanded its line of automotive-grade, step-down DC-DC (buck) converters that allow designers to use fewer external components reducing system footprint and lowering bill of materials (BOM).

The DA913X-A product family operates at efficiency levels above 90%, reducing thermal design challenges for high-current rails in a range of automotive systems such as infotainment, navigation, telemetry and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The series consists of three devices configured as single- or dual-output buck converters. The DA9130-A operates as a single channel, dual-phase buck converter with up to a 10-amp output current. The DA9132-A also integrates two single-phase buck converters, each delivering up to 3 amps output current. All the devices have an input voltage range of 2.5 V to 5.5 V and an output voltage range of 0.3 V to 1.9 V.

Other features include remote sensing for highest accuracy and the series supports multiple PCB routing scenarios without loss of performance. Meanwhile, a fully programmable soft start limits the in-rush current from the input to give a slope-controlled output voltage. Additionally, the buck converters have dynamic voltage control for adaptive adjustment of the supply voltage dependent on the load and has configurable GPIOs to support I2C, DVC and Power Good indicator.
