Maxim Integrated Unveils 60 V, 3 A, Step-down, DC-DC Converter

24 June 2018

Maxim Integrated introduced industry’s first 60 V, 3 A, dual-output, synchronous step-down, DC-DC converter. The MAX17524 accepts an input voltage range of 4.5 to 60 V and can deliver a maximum of 3 A on each output.

Several operating modes are available: peak current-mode control, pulse-width modulation (PWM), pulse-frequency modulation (PFM) and discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM) to enable high efficiency under light load conditions. Housed in a 32 pin, 5 mm by 5 mm TQFN package supporting a wide operating -40° to 125° C temperature range.

Some other specifications and features include

  • Independent input-voltage pins for each input
  • Peak efficiency of 90.3 percent
  • 5.2 uA shutdown current
  • Hiccup-mode overload protection
  • Over-temperature protection

The MAX17524 is suitable for many applications including base station power supplies, general purpose point-of-load and high-voltage single board systems, among others.
