Source: Intel With the rise of livestreaming of virtual reality (VR) content through popular platforms such as Twitch or YouTube Live, there is a growing need to develop platforms that allow viewers to watch virtual environments on two-dimensional screens.

Intel Corp. is seeking to help solve this issue by partnering with Blueprint Reality to power MixCast, a tool that allows users to create and view mixed reality content.

Typically, while streaming VR content, it can be a struggle to see how the user engages in virtual environments, Intel says. With the MixCast system, users receive a blended experience of a real person interacting in a virtual world.

The tool creates a level of immersion for gamers and VR enthusiasts because of the integration of Intel hardware and software from Blueprint reality. For educators, it can be used to demonstrate complex concepts, while Twitch streamers can provide near-instantaneous renderings of content to their broadcast.

The MixCast Studio is available for a monthly subscription on the gaming portal Steam and a free MixCast software development kit can be found on the Blueprint Reality website.
