Apple announced a number of new products at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, WWDC17, held on June 5, 2017 in San Jose, California.
Among them was a new lineup of iPad Pro models, including a new 10.5-inch model that weighs one pound. It features the company’s advanced ProMotion display, new cameras and the powerful A10X Fusion chip. Also on its way is the iOS 11 operating system, which will open up new capabilities for both iPhones and iPads — things like a redesigned app switcher, a new document scanner and deeper integration with Apple Pencil (available separately).
ProMotion is designed to automatically adjust the display to the movement of the content, which reduces power consumption. According to Apple, the new technology delivers refresh rates up to 120 hertz for fluid scrolling, greater responsiveness and smoother motion content, along with “industry-best” 20-millisecond latency responsiveness for its Apple Pencil.
The same front- and back-facing cameras as the iPhone 7 are included on the iPad Pro, including a 12-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and a 7-megapixel FaceTime high-definition camera. Apple also says the performance of the onboard A10X chip rivals that of the fastest current PC laptops, as well as 30 percent faster CPU performance and 40 percent faster graphics performance as its A9X chip.
An embedded Apple SIM and support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and LTE Advanced also make it possible to stay connected when traveling in more than 180 countries and regions.
