Distribution house Avnet Inc. has rolled out a new platform using the SmartFusion2 system-on-chip (SoC) field programmable gate array (FPGA) from Microsemi Corp. for Internet of Things (IoT) development and prototyping support.
The LSR Wireless Shield platform features dual wireless modules (the TiWi-C-W WLAN b/g/n and SaBLE-x Bluetooth Low Energy) from LS Research, Arduino-compatible shield and Pmod-compatible expansion connectors. The TiWi-C-W module can also be configured as a cloud agent, allowing for connectivity to LSR’s TiWiConnect end-to-end IoT platform.
Avnet has also introduced a TiWiConnect Wi-Fi connectivity reference design that integrates the company’s SmartFusion2 Kickstart development board with the LSR Wireless Shield for customers to begin prototyping cloud-based solutions based on the TiWiConnect platform.
The LSR Wireless Shield is priced at $49.95. The SmartFusion2 Kickstart kit is priced at $59.95.
