Chinese Internet of Things (IoT) vendor SITRI and Accelink Technologies Co. Ltd., an electronic components supplier in China, have signed an agreement to develop optoelectronics in order to compete in the semiconductor communications segment. Under terms of the agreement, the two Chinese companies will combine resources in optical technology in order to promote microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) optical components, silicon photonics, MEMS technology and other optoelectronics. The companies say the optical communications industry in China is a highly competitive one, but a market that has developed an international advantage and this combination of products will allow the companies to compete not only domestically but internationally against major MEMS manufacturers.
Accelink says MEMS and silicon photonics technology is key to the future development of optical components. Adding in the MEMS and silicon photonics technology of SITRI will help Accelink compete in future optical electronics market design wins.
