The LTC6811 high-voltage battery stack monitor from Linear Technology is a drop-in replacement for the LTC6804, but delivers higher performance and The LTC6811 delivers 0.04% accuracy and has a high-voltage multicell battery stack monitorThe LTC6811 delivers 0.04% accuracy and has a high-voltage multicell battery stack monitorcuts the price by 25%. The complete battery measuring IC is used for hybrid/electric vehicles and incorporates a deep buried Zener voltage reference, high voltage multiplexers, 16-bit delta-sigma ADCs and a 1Mbps isolated serial interface. It can measure up to 12 series-connected battery cell voltages with greater than 0.04% accuracy. Eight programmable 3rd order low-pass filter settings provide outstanding noise reduction. In the fastest ADC mode, cells can be measured within 290µsec.

Multiple LTC6811s can be connected and operated simultaneously via a built-in 2-wire isoSPI interface for high speed, RF-immune, long-distance communications. Many LTC6811s can be connected in a daisy chain to one host processor for the measurement of hundreds of cells in high-voltage battery stacks.

The LTC6811 is fully supported by Linear's Linduino Arduino-based MCU board and software library. The device is offered in a small 8 mm x 12 mm surface mount SSOP package. Priced at $8.19 each in 1,000-piece quantities, samples and demonstration boards are now available.
